This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

It's on the other side . . .

#1 Rule in Window Washing - It's on the other side!!

I discovered this rule to be true once again as I washed our house windows this week. They are not perfect (a few streaks and water spots remain uggg!) - but they are definitely cleaner and let the autumn sun shine in brighter. While I was at it I washed curtains as well (does anyone else do their spring cleaning in the fall??)

Visited loved ones in NC over the weekend - beautiful drive and lovely vistas through our car windows along the way
Notice these windows haven't been cleaned lately!

And to follow up on my window theme I've designed a couple gothic style windows for cutting. (no cleaning required!!)

Let there be many windows to your soul, that all the glory of the world may beautify it. ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox (American poet and writer 1850-1919)

Happy Last Weekend of October!!(??already??)

Mums the word!!

We've been taking advantage of the cooler weather to clean-up/spruce-up our landscape - including planting a few mums. Loving the punch of color!
Also gives me an excuse to snap a few colorful photos to play "textures" with!!

I used two of Kim Klassen's textures for this week's challenge
Word and Golden

Visit the cafe to see some wonderful works of photographic art!!

Gotta say, autumn in Tennessee is pretty nice - or maybe that is pretty and nice :)

We've had so many warm sunny days and the evenings have been just cool enough so I don't have to shiver! Love finally having the A/C turned off, the curtains pulled wide and the windows open for that fresh autumn breeze. I've cleaned up the landscape a bit and even planted a few mums to spice up the color palette around here.
The last couple years since we've been down here the warm fall weather has extended pretty much to Thanksgiving. I'm hoping that is a trend that continues!!

I've made several sets of my Turkey Place Cards. It is so fun to see the personality of each one of these guys appear as I attach the eyes.

Also made a few shabby rolled flowers and even a necklace or two.

Found this Autumn Title in the "archives."
Hope you enjoy it!

Happy Weekend!!

Seeing Red

Texture Tuesday's challenge this week is red.
Looking around my home I find I'm coming up short on that color. I have a bottle of red craft paint, a stray crayon or two and a red marker, but red is a color not very evident here unless it is February or December. And even then I will opt for pink or burgundy.
Hmmm, I'm sure that says something about me ;)

I did find this photo to play with today.
(Have you noticed we enjoying watching birds around here?)

After applying a couple layers of Kim Klaussen's
Warm Sun texture
our cardinal looks to be in a slightly more rustic setting.

Wanna see red???

The Scroll - Book Review

The Scroll
By Grant R. Jeffrey and Alton L Gansky

This fictional tale of a Biblical archaeologist drew me in right from the start and kept the action moving throughout.

At the request of an old friend, renowned archaeologist Dr. David Chambers joins an unlikely dream team of antiquity hunters in search of priceless artifacts. Using the secretive Essenes sect's cryptic Copper Scroll as their treasure map the team encounters both treasure and tragedy in their quest.

Co-author Jeffrey is a teacher of Biblical prophecy/eschatology and archaeology, so the book gives you a sense of what is involved in an actual archaeological dig. This Indiana Jones style adventure includes hidden chambers, romance, secrecy, suspicion, betrayal, danger, and redemption all set against the backdrop of the history rich and tumultuous Middle East. An engaging read!

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Press in their blogging for books program. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Do you?
Are you?
Have you?

I'm trying to be strong.
The last thing I need is something new to keep be staring at my computer screen.
But the temptation is so great!
And the chatter is so intense!
And everyone loves it so much!
And today what did I come across but a tutorial on how to get started . . .
Notice I'm not above trying to feed your addictive behaviors {evil grin}

But for today, at least, I have resisted.
I didn't even click on that alluring red button urging me to request an invite.
I did discover, however, that I can mosey on over to Pinterest
Type in a search term
and see all the great things everyone else is pinning.
For now, for me
That is enough

Happy October!!
