This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Thirty-one Words

I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:

     one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

Too bad most of us have recited these 31 words only by rote when we were children. The words have much more meaning with a bit of maturity and thought.
Learn more about the Pledge

Remembering those who have given all in service to the United States of America.
Thank you.

'Tis the Season!

Graduation Season that is!!

Here are a few more graduation goodies I've been working on.
Once again I sewed in a little pocket to hold a gift card or cash.

I love interactive cards - This is a spinner card - the little grad cap spins from one side to the other when the card is tilted.

I made this banner for our very own grad's party. It could be used for any sort of celebration, just choose your colors and adhere your message to the front. File includes letters to cut "Way To Go".

  Have a wonderful weekend!!

To another one thing leads. Yeesssssss.

Funny how one thing leads to another . . .
As I was cleaning and organizing my craft room
I came across this postage stamp that I had saved
Which made me think of my DD & DSIL (Yoda fan),
Which reminded me I need to make them an anniversary card,
Which led me to do a search for a Yoda quote,
Which brought me to the Yoda speak website,
Which informed me that today (May 21) is Talk Like Yoda Day,
Which inspired me to write this little snippet.
Clueless for many years been I have.
Discovery while exploring the World Wide Galaxy made I.
Talk Like Yoda Day, May 21 is.
This knowledge, passed on, must be.
Others as uninformed as I, continue can not.
Help you I can, yes!
Assist you in mastering Yoda speak, this link will.
The force will be with you, yes!
Have a fun weekend - wherever it may lead you!!

(I'm working on a very simple Yoda file - if anyone else would like it please E-mail  and let me know what file type you'd like (svg, eps, gsd).

Man Wrapped

Getting ready for hubby's birthday tomorrow, even though he says he would rather just ignore it (one of those "milestone" birthdays, you understand).
I bought him a new power tool :)  so I don't think he will be turning down the gift!
Wrapping the cumbersome thing was sorta challenging, so I got out the freezer wrap and duct tape and crafted a gift any man should appreciate.
Will also be working on a nifty spinner card and his favorite dessert - Cherry Cheesecake. We'll make him celebrate so much he will feel like a kid again!

Graduation Easel Card

I've put together a high school graduation card for my niece who is counting down her last days of school (only 7!) I attached a little pocket to hold a gift card or cash on this one, which is not included in the cut files, but is very easy to make - just take a rectangle of paper, folded it around a gift card then attached it to the card. It acts as the ledge to help the card stand too.

I hope your dreams take you...
to the corners of your smiles,
to the highest of your hopes,
to the windows of your opportunities,
and to the most special places your heart has ever known.

Graduate, Nashville, Mother's Day

Last weekend we celebrated DD's college graduation.
It involved a trip north along with a simple little party with family and friends, then moving her and her belongings down to Tennessee. While we were gone, Middle Tennessee experienced some outrageous weather. As you may have heard Nashville as well as many surrounding counties endured 13+ inches of rain last Saturday and Sunday which resulted in severe flooding and even loss of life.
We were blessed in that high water was nowhere near our home and we only experienced minor soil erosion on our hill. I am happy to say that in most areas the rivers are back below flood stage and cleanup efforts are underway. Unfortunately, several landmarks as well as many, many neighborhoods and homes were under 3-10' of water. If you are familiar with Nashville, you may recognize some landmarks in this video.

So overwhelming for so many people! It has been heartening to see neighbor helping neighbor, and rather than complaining most people are feeling blessed by those helping them and thankful that most of what was lost can be replaced. The Volunteer State is earning it's nickname once again!

I worked on some Mothers Day cards this week for our wonderful Moms.
And I am happy to share the GSD file with you.

Mother's Day Card Sentiments
*Flowers & gifts may show that we care, but it is what's in our hearts that we want to share. We feel very blessed to have you for a mom. Not just today, but all year long!
*Thanks for always helping me to remember what is important in life . . . and today that is YOU!
Happy Mother's Day Weekend!
