by Dr. Larry Crabb
God wants the best for you!
To devise this devotional Dr. Crabb has taken a verse and major concept from each of 40 books of the Bible then written a short “Letter from God” reading. He has then added questions for reflection and a suggested prayer. The letters are written as if God himself were encouraging, correcting, and directing you in your daily life.
As we all quickly discover, the Christian life is not all sunshine and roses. In this devotional, Dr. Crabb guides us in thinking through the why’s of our life struggles and the good/growth that can come from the trials and problems of our everyday lives. The author does this in the form of a daily letter that begins “God says . . .” And, just as any nurturing parent would write to a loved and struggling son or daughter, these love letters are not necessarily the words we want to hear but the words we need to hear. These letters/devotionals are meant to lead us to a more mature life in Christ and to encourage growth in our faith so that we may become the person God had in mind when he created us.
The one page readings are short but powerful. This allows the majority of your devotional time to be spent in thought and prayer. It is a perfect fit for the busy lives we lead. This devotional is based upon Dr. Crabb's book 66 Love Letters, which I am now quite interested in taking a look at!
I received this book for free from Thomas Nelson through their BookSneeze program. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
