When God Created My Toes - Something New!

I've decided to add a new feature to my blog. I've signed on to a couple different "books for bloggers" sites, so you'll be seeing book reviews here every once and again. I'm planning to design complimentary cutting files and give away the books as well - but - today is just too stormy to be on the computer that much!  Sooooo, today I'll post the review and tease you to come back later this week for a file and giveaway details!

When God Created My Toes by Dandi Daley Mackal and illustrated by David Hohn follows an active, mischievous little girl through fun-filled days of play while she wonders how God made her.
The short, simple rhymes make this a fun book to share with active little ones. Simple sketches along with colorful illustrations will draw youngster into the story as they relate to the child's antics and consider
"Was He pleased as He could be when God created me?"

Children will be captivated by the girl in the illustrations playing in snow and mud, getting messy with paints, taking a bath and playing pretend. For thoughtful adults this book also presents a fun way to talk with kids about parts of the body and how God made each person unique and special.

I like how the child and God are both involved in celebrating His acts of creating toes, knees, hands, eyes, hips, etc. "Did we do a double flip when God created my hip?" I also liked the fact that the child and parents are shown interacting and having fun together.

Inspired by Psalm 139:13-16 the simple silly rhymes, endearing illustrations and a fun-loving main character all make for a fun "read it again" picture book to share with your favorite child or grandchild.

*I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. All opinions expressed are my own.*

Easter Cut File and a Mothers Day Giveaway!

Wow - the days/weeks are just flying by - so many things on my to do list and such short days! We are so excited that both our girls will be visiting this weekend for the Easter holiday! I did manage to get a few Easter letters sent out to special friends and I included a gift as well. Thought some of you may enjoy the cutting file.
I cut the cross from a gold metallic paper and the backing from cardstock, then added an embroidery floss tassel.

Here's the newest addition in my etsy shop
Also, it is a great time to visit the PAFA team blog and make sure you're entered in the Mothers Day Giveaway. Such a talented bunch and the prizes are fantastic!!

Wishing you God's greatest blessings, special time with loved ones, and wonderful moments to cherish!

Now . . . back to that to do list!!

Let the Growing Begin!

We've been working on expanding our gardening area here in the last few weeks.
Coming from a relatively flat area of Indiana (I grew up in Plain and Prairie townships, which is quite telling if you think about it!) we are finding gardening and landscaping on our hillside a bit challenging. Everything looks fine until.  it.  rains.
Anyway, we've added two more terraced garden areas, and my veggies are growing!!
*My Garden*
Still plan to put some gravel around the perimeter for walking paths.

Yesterday I put in Tomato and Pepper plants.

Cucumbers I planted last Wednesday are peeking through the soil.
My green beans have yet to make their appearance.

Last month I planted some lettuce in a container on the deck and it won't be long till we can enjoy a fresh salad.

I was pleased and surprised to see that one of my stevia plants from last year is coming back.
From what I have read stevia is a bit unpredictible, I had three plants last year and this is the only one to reappear.

I designed this cutting file to encourage my little garden.
I test cut it from vinyl.
You could make a tile for outside, but I just adhered it to photo frame glass.
I plan to do a bit more with the frame - later :)
(all this beautiful weather is cutting into my crafting plans!)

Comic Relief

Thought you might enjoy seeing the inspiration for some of my crafting projects this week . . .

He worked so hard for those tiny, but evidently very tasty, sunflower seeds! I was thoroughly intrigued watching his determined efforts.
And here is what he prompted me to craft
