Stitched With Love

It has been a while since I picked up my crochet hook and made anything, but when I saw the current Craft Hope Red Scarf project, I knew this was the time to dust it off. Here are the scarves that I'm sending along.

If you like working with yarn there is still time to join the fun, deadline for this project is February 14.

Craft Hope for Haiti Shop Spreading seeds of hope one stitch at a time

Craft Hope also has opened a special etsy shop with proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders in Haiti. Lots of great crafts to purchase or you can donate your items to sell. So far over $27,000 has been raised for the cause.

I used the ball of yarn from this file for the tags attached to the scarves I made. Also great for a layout showcasing your projects or favorite stitcher.

Before & After

Like many of you, I have several home projects in the works right now. I'm trying to remember to take a few photos to share with you. I enjoy visiting blogs and seeing what everyone is working on. It is always inspiring and I love picking up some new ideas - wouldn't want my to-do list to actually get finished!! (Fat chance!)

Any way, along with cutter files this year I'm going to try to share a few Before & After photos of what I'm doing here in my little corner of the world . . .

At Christmas my mom mentioned that she was getting rid of a few decorations, this one caught my eye and made the trip home with me.
My original intention was to fix her up for next Christmas - but why make the sweet little thing stay in storage most of the year?? I used a few of the new clear stamps my hubby stuffed in my Christmas stocking and ended up with this.
I'm thinking I may add a little 3D embellishment at a later time (maybe cut some vellum butterflies to layer over the stamped ones on her dress?) But for now she' sitting in the corner reminding me that spring is on it's way.

Today's file share is Before & After photo frames. Thought these might be useful for scrapping New Year's resolutions that you've accomplished as well as other projects you may complete throughout the year.

"Tweet" Birds

Had a wonderful time at Hobby Lobby last week taking in all the new decor for Spring! I think I could spend a week wondering the aisles in that store!!
I was good, though, and got out of the place with some cash still in my pocket. LOL

I'd been looking for a bird of some sort to put in a birdcage that I picked up at Goodwill last year and came upon this little guy. I thought he had a bit of an angry look in his eye which I wasn't too crazy about.

With just a pinch of watered-down acrylic paint he looked a bit more friendly to me.

The good new is I love how he turned out - the bad news is I don't like him in the cage (I guess bluebirds are meant to be free!)
So I built him a little nest of fabric scraps and for the time being he has a home just inside our front door.

Birds have been popping up in some of the Valentine files I've been designing also.

Now Available for purchase at Cutters Market.
Hope you enjoy this file.
Could be used to embellish cards, layouts, tags, boxes . . .

I like it on this little 3-D watering can that I've been working on.
(Watch for it soon in my Gallery!)

Paisley Heart

We're having visitors for the weekend so I'm in the midst of making things "presentable". Seems I slacked off a bit around the holidays! LOL
Looking forward to a fun time.

Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend too!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Love Letters

Aren't love letters fun?
And the best thing is they are as much fun to write and deliver as they are to receive!! They don't even have to be anything fancy - we have fun just passing around a little yellow post-it with sweet nothings on it. It has turned up in cereal boxes, coat pockets, drawers, under pillows, in shoes - a sweet little reminder that somebody cares!!

All things love-ly

I've been filling my designing mind with warm thoughts of love (any excuse to think warm is good right about now!)
Have you started working on Valentine's Day projects?? Just 5 weeks from Sunday!

Now available for purchase at Cutters Market.

My parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14th this year. I'm prepping to mail out invites for their open house next week. If anyone is looking for a good buy on postcard type invites check out I used a discount coupon they had available, shipping was super fast even in the midst of the Christmas shopping season, design prep was well explained and I was really happy with how they turned out!

I used digital scrapbooking elements to design the card around a snapshot from their wedding day. Don't they look happy?!
The back of the card lists all the pertinent party info.
We are now hoping for "nice" weather that weekend - February in Indiana can be pretty frigid, snowy, messy, nasty, slippery, drifting, blustery, or sunny, pleasant, unseasonable (ie - unpredictible!!)

Time will tell!

Need to Warm Up?

Well, that explains it!
The reason the weather is so cold for such a large part of the country is in honor of

One down . . .

Here it is only January 5th and I have a project crossed off my to-do list!

After living in our home here in middle Tennessee for almost a year I'm finally getting a feel for how I would like to decorate some areas. I'm heading in a beachy direction for our bedroom and bath. This is one of our few pieces of "real" furniture, ie not assembled from a box :)

I bought the rolltop as a high school graduation gift for myself, it has followed me up and downstairs, town to town and now, across several states. The finish was worn and it just needed a littl facelift.

Here's the after

More beachy?? I'm thinking the drawer pulls will need replaced, but otherwise I like it.
Next to tackle is our dark wood waterbed (yes, once we buy something we keep it 4-ever! LOL) I think I have hubby talked into adding some beadboard or something similar to the headboard to add some interest. He's slow to come around to my way of thinking, but I can be persistent - or is that stubborn?!

I also think that the perfect wall art for above our bed would be something similar to this
Personalized, of course! Which would definitely require a trip to a warm sunny beach . . . Now there's a nice thought for a cold winter day!

Happy Tuesday!!
