This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Here Comes The Bride!

Talked to DD last night. She is very excited to see her dress. She is planning to drive home from school Friday evening for the weekend. This weekend, however, forecasters are calling for up to 8” of snow and other nasty weather. When we advised her of this her comment was “Nothing is keeping me from coming home this weekend!” So that is the inspiration for today’s share – a determined bride-to-be, not the traditional wedding march song! I can just see that focused, determined look in her eye as she heads out on her mission to see “the dress”. LOL Hopefully, if the weather does turn nasty her fiancĂ© will be able to help her refocus. The dress will still be here when the weather clears!

Available at Cutters Market.

I spent some time yesterday afternoon examining this dress – I will have 7 layers to shorten when doing the hem. Luckily only 2 will require actual sewing; the others are tulle/netting and can just be cut to length. Even so it is a looong way around the bottom of the dress! (x seven!) I’ll have to work up my nerve before making that first, no-going-back cut! But then again, I have many layers to “practice” on! LOL

It's Here!

The long awaited wedding gown has arrived! Ordered in September and expected by the end of December, we received delivery yesterday. Exciting to say the least. DD is planning to come home this weekend to take a look. I’m doing alterations, so, hopefully, it won’t need much more than hemming. Borrowed my mom’s sewing dummy so the dress is “standing” waiting for the bride.

With all this love in the air thought I’d share this hugs & kisses frame/mat.

Whoopie Pies

If you’ve never tried a Whoopie Pie, you don’t know what you’re missing!! It is a “sandwich” made from two soft chocolaty cookies filled with the yummiest white, sweet fluff! So good! The recipe makes a big batch of treats – enough to put some in the freezer to save for later. (The fluff also makes a good filling for layer cakes!)

Queen of Pies

Did you know that today is National Pie Day in the USA?
Here’s a link to the American Pie Council to find out more (check out the Random Acts of Pieness - LOL).

I’ve crowned my MIL the “Queen of Pies”.

She is a terrific cook and loves to bake. She spends many Saturdays making pies for Sunday dinner. Many times for a normal Sunday dinner for 14 people (including 6 kids) she will prepare 3 different varieties of pies. (This is in addition to 3 kinds of cookies or brownies to choose from for dessert!) I never have understood how her kids stayed so thin!!
So just in case you have family or friend that is shines supreme in the pie making category here’s a file to help you commemorate them.

A bit of whimsy

Whimsical (whim’zi kel) adj. 1 Capricious; fanciful; unpredictable. 2 Odd; fantastic; quaint.

Everyone could use a little whimsy in their day. Here’s a fun little flourish that is suitable for Valentine’s Day. You’ll find the swirls aren’t all perfectly round or perfectly spaced and it is not perfectly symmetrical. It is whimsical – a tad bit unpredictable (a little like love, perhaps??)
Have a fun Monday!

Enjoy Each Day

This resolution was suggested by a friend (Thanks Sally!)
In this fast-paced world it is easy to forget to take a little time to actually enjoy living! Take a break, take a breather, take a walk, read a book, share a meal, play with your kids, take a nap – whatever will help you relax I hope you are able to take a bit of time for yourself and ENJOY EACH DAY!

In My Prayers

My prayer list has grown tremendously since the beginning of the year, as many friends are facing difficult challenges. This cutout can be placed on a card blank and sent to those you are remembering in your prayers.

In prepping for Valentines Day I thought I’d share a little love today.
This file includes a circle frame edged in hearts - Just the thing for framing that special someone in your life. Also included is the word love welded in it’s own little circle. Don’t forget to use all those little heart cutouts as additional embellishments!

Bold & Graphic

I’ve been playing around with designing some bold and graphic embellishments lately. Little attention grabbers to guide your eye to the focal point of a layout. I’m been trying dots and dashes, arrows, etc. with pieces to mix and match for one-of-a-kind looks. Take a look at these borders and see what you think.
Available at Cutters Market.

They could be cut in softer colors for a more feminine look also. My plan is to put together a few matching sets and offer those for sale at Cutters Market.

Speaking of attention grabbing – the weather had our attention this week in my little part of the world.
On top of frozen, saturated ground and warm snow-melting temperatures we had several inches of rain come down fast and furious!
Compare my mild-mannered little backyard creek in this photo to the what yard? "river" in this one. The water never quite made it to our house, only to the edge of the patio.
We’re blessed in that we are “upstream” and our water recedes quickly. Those living around the many lakes in the area are still dealing with rising waters and flooded basements and roads.

*When you can do the common things of life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world ~ George Washington Carver

Regarding Housework

Regarding Housework - who needs it?! LOL

Seriously, several readers mentioned keeping up with the housework (and laundry) and still having time for family and "play time" is a challenge. Wish there was an easy answer for this one!! Sounds like most of us prefer to focus on family and the housework slides a bit. Which makes sense to me. I usually take a day to play catch-up, the housework never goes away (why??) but the family situations change daily!

So, if one of your resolutions is to keep up with the housework maybe you can use this file as a reminder. If nothing else you can use the house and clothing cutouts in a creative way.

Available at Cutters Market.

Best of luck in finding the secret to balancing all your responsibilities in 2008.

Here's a thought:

Every spot in this house holds a special meaning,
Each corner, each wall; the floor and the ceiling.
Every room brings to mind a special feeling;
How I love this house, though it could use a cleaning!

*Be it ever so rumpled, there's no place like home!

Take Note

I made myself a little label for my notebook that I'm using to jot down all the instructions at my new job.

I used more of my faux metal shelf paper for the pen and oval mat.
Thought you might find a use for parts of the file it too, so here's today's share.

Recipe Layout - Ranch Mac & Cheese

While I’m working on files for some of your resolutions I thought I’d
share another of my recipe layouts.

My picky eater loved macaroni & cheese, but, of course, my older daughter didn’t – until I spiced it up a bit. FINALLY, a way to get everyone to eat the same food!
I cut the fence from wood look paper and added a few pen details. I also pen-stitched around the stars and the journal box and added some brads.
The “lasso” is a length of fiber. The hat comes from my
Cowboy Boot & Hat file.

Use My Stash - What Stash??

Or rather, WHICH stash!! LOL
Being a long-time crafter I have more “stashes” than I care to think about.
Scrapbook, fabric, yarn, buttons, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, the list goes on and on.
I try to be good about using what I have, but something about getting new supplies is just inspiring! And often leads to the use of a stash in a more unique and creative way.

Available at Cutters Market.

Best of luck in using your stash!

Snap More Photos!

Available at Cutters Market.

There are lots of ways to accomplish this goal. Most importantly, keep your camera handy! I’ve heard some say their goal is at least one photo a week. A cool blog with daily photo prompts is Her Space, My Space. If you follow along you will soon be looking at every day things in a whole new way. I learned about the site from my blog friend Sue. She always amazes me with her take on the daily prompt.

Actually my problem isn’t snapping more photos – but printing/developing more photo - I have a backlog awaiting my attention right now!

Speaking of photos – We had a beautiful white New Year here in northern Indiana.

The snow just came down and “stuck” to everything. Not much fun for driving around in, but very pretty to look at!

Gotta love lake-effect snow, sunshine and falling snow all at the same time!

Resolutions - We're all in this together!

Wow - I really didn't know if anyone else would have a use for the resolution files. But I guess we are all a lot alike :)

I've been able to test cut the files so now they are ready to share. Let's start with "Get Organized**." I'm trying - but I tend to get my supplies scattered throughout the house while working on several different projects. I'm going to make a valiant effort this year!!

Available at Cutters Market.

Thanks for all the emails and for sharing your resolutions - I'll be designing more resolution files to share using your ideas!
