Were you wondering what I was going to do with all those photos of DD & her (then) fiance'?
Last year I started collecting small silver frames, glass plates and glass goblets at garage sales and second hand stores. I printed off photos of the engaged couple to fit in the frames. Then turned the goblets upside down and adhered a plate on top to form a mini pedestal.
We placed a frame on top of each pedestal, along with silk rose petals, a string of pearls, a bit of lace, some glass pebbles, and a little silver basket holding a tealight. We placed the pedestal on a metallic silver circle of wrapping paper and wound a length of tulle around the base, as well as a few more rose petals and glass pebbles and the chocolate kiss favor bundles.
Each centerpiece was similar to the others but unique in it's own way. It looked nice - but the cost was minimal!
The mini pedestals are also a fun way to serve refreshments at a party or shower (we used them at DD#2's HS graduation party). You can vary the size and height depending on goblet and plate size!
A similar idea is to use china plates and tea cups.
