Moving Day!

Today’s the day – we’re packing up and moving the girls back to college this afternoon. It is nice that they chose to attend the same school, only one moving day! I know they can’t wait to get back down there to see their friends and get their new dorm rooms arranged and decorated. After they are gone it is always a bit sad to walk past their bedroom doors and not see “stuff” strewn all over the floor. LOL

Hope you enjoy the file. The pieces can be arranged any way you desire.

File available at Cutters Market.

I wish we could use a moving dolly – the girls both will be on the third floor – they’ve got LOTS of boxes – and there is no elevator. DH & I are thankful they have many young strong friends willing to help!!

Cousins!

I came across this photo of my two girls and their cousins that was snapped in 1994. These cute “little kids” are now 16, 22, 19, and 18! I think we need to have another photo session!

This photo mat is designed to overlap your 4x6 photo (my photo is smaller). For those using the EPS file format – let me know if this design will cut correctly for you.

File available at Cutters Market.

Busy Week!

Between wedding plans and getting the girls ready to go back to college this will be one busy week.

I’ll design and post whenever I can sneak something in. :)

Yesterday I went with DD to try on wedding gowns in Ft Wayne. She has it narrowed down to 3 or 4. Maybe she’ll wake up today and know which is “the one”! We were in the store for over three hours and I lost track of how many dresses she tried. The sales clerk was very nice and “bubbly”; kept us entertained and had lots of ideas and suggestions – one of those people who love their jobs! Thanks Shelley!

Today we are going to the Shipshewana flea market. The girls were working all summer so this is our first chance to get there. We’re not big-time buyers, but we sure enjoy looking! Promises to be a hot and humid day, we’ll be very “wilted” when we get home.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. – We’re off to see some fleas! LOL

Home School

Waving “Hi” to all the home schoolers who are starting a new school year. I received a request for a home school file – hope you find this one useful. :)

File available at Cutters Market.

If anyone is looking for an interesting "field trip" take a look at the Creation Museum in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Our family visited a couple weeks ago – it is very well done with a variety of types of exhibits, including dinosaurs, Noah's ark, fun videos and a planetarium, that will appeal to all age groups.

It is brand new this summer and it was a bit busy, we enjoyed the museum one day and came back to visit the gardens the next.

Have a great day!

Soul Mates

A little lovin’– a little summer fun.
Hope you enjoy this title featuring his & hers flip-flops.

My younger DD had the goal of obtaining a pair of flip-flops in every color. I was going to get a photo - but couldn't get to her closet - she is definitely not a neat freak! LOL She's made a great attempt at her goal though!

File available at Cutters Market.

Speaking of summer fun – our family is heading out tomorrow for Cedar Point (theme park in Ohio). May not get back to the blog for a few days – have a great weekend!

Reflections

I had this photo showing reflections in the wet sand in mind while designing this file.

File now available at Cutters Market.

But by the time I had cut it out I had several other ideas.
Reflections in a mirror (my daughter trying on wedding gowns)
Likeness of a mother/daughter, father/son, or siblings
Title for a journal.

Hope you can find a use for it.

Back to School

It is back to school time in our area. When my girls were younger this time of year was always my least favorite. I loved having them home for the summer, having time to slow down the pace a bit, spending time together, and discovering new things to do in our neighborhood. Those “lazy” summer days always seemed to pass too quickly.

Our tradition for the first day of school was to take a photo with the carefully chosen “first day” outfit and new bookbag on the porch. This tradition had to change as the girls got older since they were worried “someone” would see us taking pictures outside (gasp!) – so we moved the photo shoot indoors. LOL

This photo shows my younger daughter ready for 6th grade. She really didn’t dislike school as much as this picture would have you believe. She had great teachers, lots of friends, did great in her studies, ran track and was a cheerleader. She had a full, fun school career, but always reminded us how much she disliked school!

Bling Challenge Winners

These are the winning entries from the Bling Challenge.

Marianne from the Netherlands used sparkling background papers and then added rhinestone shapes and flowers. The corner accent is a sparkly rosette, glitter on the cutout word adds the finishing touch.

Cara has used many different layers of glitz on her entry. Notice the sparkly mesh background, the golden ribbon woven through the accent piece, and the various shapes and sizes of rhinestone embellishments.

Congratulations ladies – I will be contacting you to find out what free file you would like!

It is so much fun to see how each crafter’s entry is so totally unique! I want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this little challenge! No doubt I will host more in the future!

Weed It & Reap

I have a small garden on my parent’s farm. Due to other things going on it had been almost a week since my last visit. I had pulled a few large weeds, harvested a few cucumbers and tomatoes and left the plot looking pretty good.

On my visit this past Saturday I was surprised to see that the weeds had almost taken over! I guess the rain shower we received during the week was just what the tiny little sprouts were waiting for. Thankfully the vegetables appreciated the rain also and I left with a large bag full of produce – but those weeds had gone crazy!

This title is a little reminder to myself of a garden that is needing a little TLC.
Hope you can use it too!

I wanted to share with you a card Cara created for her great-grandson using "My First Birthday" file. I love how the balloon patterned paper brings the design to life.

S'mores Day!

Wow – did you know that in the U.S. August 10, 2007 is National S’mores Day?
I remember my first experience with the gooey treat – a Girl Scout camp-out; we really pigged-out and were up all night from the sugar/chocolate high! Imagine 10 sugar-crazed girls giggling through the night. I think our leaders probably limited our intake after that experience! LOL

File now available at Cutters Market.

The recipe is very simple - all you need is graham crackers, roasted marshmallows and chocolate bars. After tasting one it is easy to see how they got their name! If you’d like to know more, check out this site.
Have a great weekend!

Exercise

This file fills a request I received from someone who is working on losing weight and getting fit (with great success, I might add).

Do I have one of these machines – yes I do, just don’t ask how much use it is getting. LOL

DH & I have a plan to get serious with an exercise routine once the girls are back at college. Hope everyone else is better disciplined than I and you are enjoying the benefits of a healthy exercise program right now!

Hmm . . . I’m thinking I should cut out several of these and post them all over the house as reminders to get moving!
File available at Cutters Market.

Family Reunion

After looking at a bunch of bananas sitting on my counter all week and thinking “I should make a file of those” – inspiration finally hit – Family Reunion!!

Summer is prime time for family reunions. Picnics, carry-ins, potlucks, BBQs, catered events, whatever style of get-together is traditional for your family group it is always fun to get “the whole bunch” together.

File available at Cutters Market!

Enjoy!

Shades of Green

In your hurried activities today, be sure to take a deep breath and enjoy your surroundings. As I look out my window I am amazed at how many shades of green I see. We had a nice rain yesterday so everything seems refreshed and renewed. I took a walk around the house and snapped a few Shades of Green.

Funky Flourishes

Don’t you love all the flourishes and fancy swirls so popular in scrapping lately!
The really great thing is how flexible they are – they can look elegant or funky – depending on your paper/color choices!

From Webster
Flourishnoun - 1) An ornamental mark or design, as in writing; 2) Anything done for display alone; 3) The act of brandishing or waving; 4) In music – a short, elaborate passage; fanfare

Fanfare – I like that – how about adding some “fanfare” to your creative endeavors today!

Thanks Karen!

Karen has shared a layout she designed using my Tool Border file. (She and her Silhouette work fast!)

I just love her color scheme and photo matting. Karen used Stickles glitter glue to add a bit of sparkle to the tools in the border. The layout showcases her new Scraproom – how exciting! It looks like a wonderful place to create in – so light and airy!

Thank you for sharing Karen!

Share a photo of how you've used one of my files and you'll get a free file and your photo posted on SCRAPi too!
