Adventures In Shopping

Have some fun shopping experiences to scrap?

Take them to the right store and even the men in the family could have a story to tell.

On our drive home from a vacation in Minnesota our family made a list of our favorites at the Mall of America. Stores, Foods, Purchases, Style of the Moment, Stores We Wish Were There (can you believe we came up with several!) It made a fun little reminder of our shopping adventure!

Tool Border

I spent the day painting a bathroom at the church. It is wonderful what a simple coat of paint can do! Makes me want to come home and "spruce" things up here too! (Don't tell DH!)

Today's file is a border featuring tools. Enjoy!

Pattertaters and Butterflies

Don’t butterflies just make you smile – so light and airy – floating along on the breeze from one beautiful flower to the next? Sounds like a pretty good life until you realize how they start out as “ugly” caterpillars and most only enjoy their wings for a short while before dying!

You’re probably wondering about the title of this blog . . . we have a home video of my younger daughter; she’s about 3 years old. She was enjoying the feeling of a caterpillar crawling up her arm. Mom (behind the camera) asks “what do you have?” You guessed it, her answer “ a pattertater”, I asked her again and received the same answer, in a very confident tone. So . . . ever since, at our house, we have pattertaters that turn into butterflies!

File available at Cutters Market

With today’s file you can cut your own 3-D layered butterfly, fold lines are included in the file. Besides a scrapbook or card embellishment this would make a great package “bow” if you cut it large enough! I’ve added a bit of Stickles Glitter Glue to my sample image.

Have a great weekend – and keep your eyes open for those pattertaters!

Treasure Hunt

Has anyone else tried Geocaching??
It is an outdoor activity that fits in well with camping and is great family fun – Like a giant world-wide treasure hunt!

How it works:
You can log on to geocaching.com to find hidden “caches” in your area (or anywhere you will be visiting). Enter the listed cache coordinates into your portable GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and GO! The cache may simply be a log book that you sign. But the most exciting are those where you can choose a "treasure" from the hidden container and leave a treasure of your own - usually some kind of small trinket - for our first find we chose a little baseball bobblehead figure and left a refrigerator magnet.

It is amazing how many caches are hidden – there may be one right in your own neighborhood!

Anyway, I created this title for a layout about our “First Find”, but there are all sorts of ways you could use it. Send me a photo – I’d love to see the results!

Geocaching Files now available at Cutters Market.

Rock Collector

This blog seemed to be getting a little “girly” lately, so I thought I’d throw this file into the mix.
This file is available for purchase at Cutters Market.

Seems like almost every kid goes through a rock collecting stage. Hands full of rocks, pockets full of rocks, BUCKETS full of rocks. For a few years we had some plastic jars filled with special rocks outside almost every door of our house.

We have such special rocks at our place that when my nephew (6) comes to visit he chooses one to commemorate the visit! – He has a stash in the van as well as at home. LOL

My niece used to have her collection under her bed – she may still, at 15 she is planning to become an archeologist!

One summer my girls and I picked out some nice smooth rocks that had been lying in the sun and decorated them with crayons – the warm rocks slightly melt the waxy crayons and create neat pictures – for several years we had a “smiley” rock to greet us each time we walked out our front door. Try it!

Ponder . . .

...son (sun) n. [ME ] 1. a collector of treasures and heroes 2. a source of found objects in laundry (e.g., rocks, twigs, etc.) 3. his father's pride and his mother's heart. SYN.-an adventure

Shadow Boxes

Do you use your cutouts for things other than cards and scrapbooking??
My girls and I put together a couple shadow boxes as wedding/shower gifts.

For the first we were actually able to include mementos from the wedding – dried rose petals, a boutonniere, ribbon and tiny butterflies from the shower. We added the wedding invitation, a string of beads, and several wedding cutouts.

For the second we we inserted the invitation and a silver photo frame, some fancy trim and rhinestones, silk flowers, a string of beads and tulle. We included a note encouraging the couple to add their own memories and photos from the wedding to personalize it.

We used this cutout in the photo frame in the second gift.

Engaged!

Woo hoo!
Big news at our house!
DD became engaged over the weekend to a very nice young man who asked our permission before asking her and got down on one knee to do the asking.

They went to the dunes for the day, he waited until sunset and then “popped the question”.
He even asked some other beach visitors to snap pictures – and as you can see they did a wonderful job.

No wedding date has been selected yet – they both will be starting their senior year of college this fall and plan to wait until after they graduate.

Twins!

I don’t personally have any experience with the joys of parenting multiples. I had my hands full with just one baby at a time – so you parents of twins and more have my utmost respect!
This title came about from a group request for a file for twins.

File is now available at Cutters Market.
I must say, however – even though my girls aren’t twins I still feel Blessed X 2!

Quotes:
*It's double the giggles and double the grins...And double the trouble if you're blessed with twins
*Not double trouble, but twice blessed!

Thanks for spending a bit of time with me this week!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. We actually got some rain so the lawnmowers will be humming in our neighborhood!

Live, Love, Giggle!

Having my girls (and their friends) in the house sure produced a lot of giggles through the years.
Hope you enjoy this title.

File is now available at Cutters Market.

Angel Wings

Anyone tried making altered art items or ACEO's?
Many times crowns and wings are added to old photos and ephemera to create a new piece of art or to embellish a re-purposed item.
I think it is fascinating – and I admire those who are truly gifted at it.
I've tried my hand at a mini altered quilt piece or two.

Girlfriends

I have an old jewelry box that I plan on turning into a altered memory box.
It is sitting staring at me - I'm awaiting inspiration :)

These angel wings could be used for altered art, or any number of projects. I’d love to see how you use them - email me a photo and with your permission I’ll post it on SCRAPi.

File available at Cutters Market.

Hospitals, Doctors, & Needles - Oh, My!

I designed this file after receiving a request for medical related cuts. Thankfully, to this point in time, trips to the hospital have been few and far between in my family – but I do have a page planned for this one – I’ll try to post the completed project next week.
File available at Cutters Market

Mice Cream???

We were puzzled when my usually well-spoken toddler would go to Grandma’s and ask for mice cream. Mice cream?? – where did that come from? Then we realized, she was always asked “Do you want some ice cream?” to the toddler ear our Hoosier slur would naturally sound like “Do you wants Mice Cream?” Yuck!!

Didn’t think many would appreciate a title for Mice Cream LOL – so how about this one honoring the cold creamy treat.

File available at Cutters Market.

BTW – did you know Sunday is National Ice Cream Day in the US??
I think I’ll ask my now almost 22 year old if she wants a bowl of Mice Cream!

Have a great weekend!

Round in Circles

After designing today’s file I started thinking . . .

What is it about circles that are so fascinating?
Kids love going around in circles. The perfect house for a child allows them to run in circles from room to room (driving adults crazy in the process).

Remember the merry-go-round, rolling down a hill, or just plain spinning to make yourself dizzy? I suppose it has something to do with the cycles and rhythms of life, rotation of the earth - something born within us all.

Print & Cut Hibiscus Card for Mom

For our extended family, July is almost like Christmas. We celebrate 6 birthdays in the first 10 days of the month!

I've not done a lot of Print & Cuts with my CR, but I created this Shaped Hibiscus Flower Card for my mom's birthday this year. The image is from a photo I took while visiting the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden in Minnesota in 2005.

File available at Cutters Market.

Thoughts to ponder . . .

You Go Girl!

My younger daughter ran track for several years.
She was always a little thing (at 19 she is only 4’ 10 and 3/4”) so it was fun to watch her run and hear the comments from the crowd –“ Wow – that little girl can run!”

{the little one is mine :)}

She always put in a good showing even though her legs had to work twice as hard as her long-legged competitors!

Now available at Cutters Market.

Zoom Zoom

To cap off our holiday yesterday we went to my brother’s house for some dirt track go-kart racing. The younger racers had a blast slopping through the mud after watering down the track while the ‘more mature’ drivers waited for perfect track conditions and enjoyed a summer evening of racing.

After cleaning up a bit we enjoyed a bowl of home-made ice cream on the porch.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July
Even if it is not a holiday where you live I hope you have a fantastic day!
It is Independence today in the States. So the free download focuses on that.

File is now available at Cutters Market

Happy Birthday is cut separately, so you could use that part for other birthday celebrations as well. :)

Today is usually a day of festivals, picnics, lake activities, and fireworks; although where I am in Indiana it is overcast and supposed to be a rainy day. Most people aren't complaining too much though because we need the rain so badly (think crunchy brown lawns, and thirsty crops.)

Take a moment during your holiday festivities to think about those men and women who can’t be with their families because they are defending our freedom and working to give others the freedoms we enjoy and especially remember those families who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Skinny Dip - Part 2

Okay here’s the rest of the title from yesterday . . .

Well – maybe you won’t want to use it for photos of your family :)

But it would work for zoo photos of animals like hippos, walrus, elephants, polar bears or even a roly-poly penguin playing in the water.
File now available at Cutters Market.

Here are a couple more ideas for your summer projects/photos.

At Cutters Market in July, I will list two different

Be sure to check in often.

Thank you Cara!
Cara used the Happy Birthday Download to create a birthday card. See the results on the left sidebar - it is lovely!

Does everyone know what time it is???

It’s Pool Time!!

Summer came early to Indiana this year with lots of 90 degree days to boot! It’s the perfect weather for a dip in the pool.

We’ve got lots of pool photos of our girls in Grandma's pool. And playing in the hotel pool while on vacation was always the highlight of the whole trip.

Here is Part One of a title for use in scrapping your pool photos.

File now available at Cutters Market.

Stop by tomorrow for Part Two!
