A New Year - A New Adventure

Beginning on January 2, I’ll be starting on a new adventure!
I will be working part-time at our local library as a Technical Assistant in the Children’s Department. Sounds like I’ll be involved in planning and prepping programs & crafts for kids along with the basic things needed to keep the library kid’s area organized and running smoothly. I love books, kids and crafts so it sounds like a good fit. I mentioned my cutter during my interview and my boss-to-be seemed quite interested, so I’m excited to see where this adventure leads.
I’m planning to keep designing files and blogging, hopefully more regularly than in the month of December!!

Wishing you all the best in any new adventures 2008 brings your way!

Available at Cutters Market.

Here are a couple quotes I ran across today that are oh, so true:
*The world looks brighter from behind a smile.
*To know God’s will is life’s greatest treasure. To do God’s will is life’s greatest pleasure.

A product to try with your cutter . . .

We had a great Christmas – with still more fun to come as we are getting together with the other side of the family this Sunday. Yesterday I took DD#2 and my niece out shopping, they had gift cards they needed to turn into the latest styles. They did a good job and even came home with a little money!

A product to try . . .
While doing some shopping at a home improvement store I came across this product and wondered how it would cut on my Robo. I am happy to report that it cuts great! It is a self adhesive metallic look shelf liner by Duck Products.
The type I picked up has the look of stainless steel.
I have cut several projects with it so far, all with great results. I cut the scissors and mirror accents for my niece’s sewing box, some snowflakes to decorate a bag holding a Christmas gift and these tree ornaments I made for my daughters.

To make the ornaments I cut two monograms of the metallic liner (one in reverse) plus one of cardstock to make the ornaments more stable. The most difficult part was lining everything up properly after cutting (I used my stylus to guide the edges together – they aren’t perfect but they work). I then added a few rhinestones and ribbon bows. For cutting the shelf liner on my Robo I started with the vinyl setting (blue blade cap) then increased the force a bit. I didn’t use the cutting mat. The shelf liner comes in a 7’ long roll and was only about $5.00 so I have a lot more "metal" to play around with!

Have you found a fun new product to use with your machine? Please share!

It is never too late to give a gift – I found these suggestions for Christmas gifts – but I think these are appropriate any time of year . . .

Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

Wow! Is this week ever speeding by - Happy Thursday!!

Christmas Project

I didn't have to go in to work yesterday, so I was able to work on some Christmas projects.
My niece is wanting to start sewing some clothes and accessories for her Webkinz, so I've put together a little sewing kit for her. A plain old sewing box just wouldn't do though. I got this Caboodle and using a bit of vinyl and my CR made her a personalized kit.

I added a measuring tape, scissors and needle & thread cutouts to the outside of the box. Along with her name and a couple butterflies.

On the mirror on the inside I cut out this frame and added some more colorful butterflies.

I stuffed it full with some pins, fabric glue, buttons, scissors, lace trims, appliques, rhinestones, elastics and fun fabrics. I think she'll be excited to see all the surpirses tucked inside!

This file will cut a mat or frame with a holly cutout. The cuts are delicate, so I wouldn't cut it much smaller. Enjoy!
Available at Cutters Market.

Digging Out

Instead of making our way to church this morning, we spent the time digging out from under 16 inches of snow.
The vehicle that looks like a mini-van is actually a little Escort LOL
It is at times like these we wish our driveway was shorter! The snow was light and fluffy and three shovels made the job go faster. We were so glad to have DD1 home to assist. DD2 is visiting friends out of state and was planning to be home today - but she's staying put until the weather is decent for traveling. We look forward to seeing her (hopefully) tomorrow!
Once the trucks plow the subdivision, we'll get the shovels out again.
I got a lot done today, some sewing alterations, gift wrapping, last minute on-line shopping and laundry. I just can't believe how fast Christmas is sneaking up on me!!

Here is the final file for the Santa Was Here set.

Presents with Bows
File available at Cutters Market.

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Oh, Christmas Tree

Glad to hear so many people have enjoyed Santa Claus, IN & Holiday World! It holds warm memories for us.

What a soggy day we've had. Fortunately we escaped the predicted freezing rain, and if the temps had been lower we'd be buried in snow right now - guess we got the best possible outcome!

Today at work I was in the "cage" in the warehouse area. (Wonder if this was hubby's intention all along? LOL) I was sorting and organizing parts. I went from sitting at a tiny desk all last week to crawling around on the floor, reaching, stretching, lifting, and climbing this week. (Hope I can get out of bed in the morning!!)

Enjoy the Christmas Tree file!

Here's a little eye candy.
This submission was sent in by Laurie.

Very pretty Thanksgiving table setting, don't you think? She used stickles glitter to accent the Leaf Napkin Ring. She and her niece crafted the placecard turkeys using a file from the ScrappinPath.
Thanks for sharing, Laurie!

Santa Claus, IN

Here’s a bit of Indiana holiday trivia for you.

Did you know there is a town in southern Indiana named Santa Claus? It is the only town in the world named Santa Claus that has a post office. It is the “official” place the post office sends letters address to Santa (and you thought they went to the North Pole - LOL). Each year the town designs a unique postmark to be hand stamped on holiday mail and packages.

We visited the town many years ago when the girls were small. They have a wonderful family oriented amusement park that we thoroughly enjoyed. The rides were designed so that parents and children could all ride together. Santa Claus Land (as it was called then) was the world’s first theme park (it is now called Holiday World). Here’s a
link if you'd like to learn more about Santa Claus, Indiana.

With this week’s downloads you’ll have all the components for this little vignette. Today we’ll start with the title. Stop back later in the week to pick up the tree and the presents.

Available at Cutters Market.

Star of David

Hello everyone!! I can't wait to get in some playtime today. I came home a bit early from work yesterday and was able to get some housework done (the papers & junk mail sure piled up fast!) After working with numbers all week (helping with inventory reports) I NEED (LOL) to let my creative side out today!!

Last Saturday I worked on getting the design figured out for this 3-D version of a Star of David. The fold lines give it a slightly raised effect. Instructions are included (hope they make sense!)

Available at Cutters Market.

Hope 4shared is working better for you all today than it did for me in uploading these files. It took me about 10 times to get my files loaded - Good Luck!! (FYI - the gsd is a zip file.)

This coming week I will be working again - so I'll squeeze in a post and file when I can. I am so enjoying sitting at my computer at home and looking out the WINDOW into my backyard (LOL).

Stopping in for a bit

Well, I totally missed a download for Tuesday didn't I!!
Sorry for making promises I couldn't keep.
I'm helping DH's company/department with a project. I originally
thought it was a part-time job (less than 40 hrs/week) but
it turns out to be temporary job (work as much as you can
we need it done!!) So I've put in a couple long days.
I was happy to "escape" today at 4:30. Yesterday I went
to work in the dark spent the day in a room with no
windows and came home in the dark. Talk about squelching
your creativity!!
Hope you can find a use for this file.

Available at Cutters Market.

I'll pop back in whenever I get a chance.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a great start to their week.
You may not see much of me for the next couple weeks. I'm working at a "real" job that pays "real" money. LOL

I'll try to get a file up tomorrow - but tonight I have no patience for my slow dial-up connection!! It is super-slow and I am super-impatient.
