This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Stormy Weather Update

Thanks again for all your care and concern for our loved ones. They are doing well, roof is temporarily patched, electricity has been restored, and the insurance adjustor is working with them. They are ready to get back to “normal”. For many of their neighbors however, normal will be quite a ways off.

We joined 100’s (maybe 1000’s) of volunteers Sunday in the cleanup effort. We were bused to stricken areas, supplied with trash bags and went about collecting all the bits and pieces of debris littering the ground of neighborhoods, parks, parking lots and fields. Officials were awed (and a bit overwhelmed) by the turnout, volunteers felt happy to be able to help out and the town now is ready for the professionals to come in and do the heavy duty tear down/rebuild. It truly was amazing to see all the work that got done in so few hours with everyone working together!

  2. It is DH's hometown, so there are lots of family, friends and memories in the area. As the buses passed by one corner residents were standing on the corner, tears on their cheeks shouting their thanks to all the volunteers, it was touching.
